About Taku Winds:
This is an advanced adult band for musicians who have high school or college level musical experience.
Instrumentation:
The Taku Winds instrumentation is set to provide proper balance, but will be tempered by quality of players and the director's preference:
Flute/Piccolos: 6 Trumpets: 6
Oboes: 2 French Horns: 4
Bassoons: 2 Trombones: 3
Clarinets: 6 Bass Trombone: 1
Eb Clarinet: 1 Euphoniums: 2
Bass Clarinet: 1 Tubas: 2
Alto Sax: 2 String Bass: 1
Tenor Sax: 1 Percussion: 4 (or as needed)
Baritone Sax: 1
Audtions:
There is no formal, structured audition process to join the band. Interested candidates are invited to join us in a rehearsal, so that the section leader and the director may hear and observe a prospective player in a normal rehearsal environment. Also, candidates might be asked to play one, or more, of the following:
2 major scales
Sight-read a piece currently in rehearsal
Play from an except book for your instrument, or play a prepared piece of your choosing.
